Image: 81st Ohio monument. This is the monument for the 81st Ohio volunteer regiment, which was in Col. Thomas Morton's brigade of Brig. Gen. W.H.L. Wallace's division, in Maj. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant's Army of the Tennessee. This interesting sculpted monument commemorates the unit's position on April 7, 1862, in the counterattack against the Confederate4 army.

This monument is in the vicinity of Maj. Gen. John McClernand's headquarters area as of July 6, 1862.

This photograph was taken in March, 2000 with a Nikon F-601 autofocus SLR, using a Nikkor 24mm - 50mm f2.8 wide angle zoom lens. The images were captured on Fuji ISO 200 film.
