Image 1: 121st Pennsylvania Monument. This photograph of the south end of McPherson Ridge, looking east, shows the monument to the Union 121st Pennsylvania monument. The 121st Pennsylvania held the far left of the line occupied by Biddle's brigade on McPherson Ridge. Heth assaulted the line in the afternoon of July 1, 1863, with the weight of numbers pushing Biddle's brigade, and the iron brigade to their right, back to Seminary Ridge. Seminary ridge is beyond the woods in the background of the picture.
