Hooker's Chancellorsville Campaign

Appendix B: Order of Battle

A history of Joseph Hooker's Chancellorsville campaign of April and May, 1863. This section contains an Order of Battle for the Union Army of the Potomac and the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia.

An "Order of Battle" is a table of organization for the forces that took part in the battle. This page contains the orders of battle for the Union Army of the Potomac and the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia as they were organized during Hooker's Chancellorsville Campaign, from March to May, 1862.

I have listed the commanding officers of the armies, corps, divisions, brigades, and — where possible — the regiments. Some organizations have multiple names. This indicates that more than one person commanded the organization. This happened when the commanding officer was killed or wounded, became ill, was removed from command or asked to be removed from command (both rare), or the officer took over command of a higher level organization. The names are listed in the order in which they commanded that organization.
