Image: 8th PA monument. The North Woods was the staging area for Hooker's attack on the northern flank of the Confederate positions. Today, the North Woods are no longer there, having been cleared and replaced by farm land. This monument, to the 8th Pennsylvania Infantry, is located on the far eastern edge of where the woods existed, and it faces south.
